FORWARD DANCE COMPANY is the in-house dance company of LOFFT – DAS THEATER, an independent production house in Leipzig. It consists of a permanent ensemble of six dancers who work with several different choreographers. The Artistic Project Director is Gustavo Fijalkow.

Vision

FORWARD DANCE COMPANY uses the artistic means of dance to question the aesthetically and discursively long-established worldviews, power relations, and body images. It does so by creating new, hitherto unexplored dance vocabulary and making this visible in its stagings.

Workshops, residencies, open research phases and discussions are integral elements of the company’s artistic process.

FORWARD DANCE COMPANY was founded by LOFFT – DAS THEATER in 2020. This makes it the first in-house mixed-ability dance company at an independent production house both in the state of Saxony and across Germany. FORWARD DANCE COMPANY is also the first and only permanent professional dance company in Saxony, where diverse dancers with different physicalities work together under professional conditions.
