ABOUT
FORWARD DANCE COMPANY is the dance company of LOFFT – DAS THEATER, an independent production house in Leipzig. It consists of an ensemble of six dancers with different physicalities, ages and backgrounds, who collaborate with guest choreographers.
Vision
FORWARD DANCE COMPANY questions aesthetically and discursively long-established worldviews, power relations and body images making hitherto non-established dance vocabulary visible.
Under the artistic project direction of Dr. Gustavo Fijalkow, the company addresses socio-political issues — both on stage and at specific (memorial) sites in public spaces. Its pieces are “translated” between the stage and urban spaces embodying the company‘s commitment to a sustainable understanding of art.

Workshops, residencies, open research phases and discussions are integral elements of the company’s artistic process.
FORWARD DANCE COMPANY was founded by LOFFT – DAS THEATER in 2020. This makes it the first mixed-ability dance company at an independent production house both in the state of Saxony and across Germany. FORWARD DANCE COMPANY is also the first and only permanent professional dance company in Saxony, where diverse dancers with different physicalities work together under professional conditions.
