SULLE SPONDE / AdK BERLIN (2023)
With SULLE SPONDE / AdK BERLIN, we open the exhibition THE GREAT REPAIR and enter into dialogue with its emblematic venue, the Akademie der Künste Berlin (AdK).
With SULLE SPONDE / AdK BERLIN, FORWARD DANCE COMPANY by LOFFT - THE THEATER opens the exhibition THE GREAT REPAIR and enters into dialogue with its highly symbolic venue, the Akademie der Künste Berlin (AdK) in Hanseatenweg. Its architecture symbolizes the ideas of democracy and transparency that prevailed in post-war West Germany. At the invitation of the curators of ARCH+, the FORWARD DANCE COMPANY dances its way through the spaces of the building, exposing the achievements and failures of 1950s architecture.
Following performances of SULLE SPONDE DEL LAGO - ON THE SHORES OF THE LAKE in Basel and Leipzig, and an adaptation for the opening of the German Pavilion at this year's Architecture Biennale in Venice, the dancers of the FORWARD DANCE COMPANY, together with the Swiss choreographer Alessandro Schiattarella and the artistic project director Gustavo Fijalkow, open up the spaces of the building through an adaptation of the piece created especially for the Academy of Arts. They open spaces of renewal and care, repair and mindfulness, fragility and perfection: spaces where our ideas of norms, narratives, and nations can meet in new ways.
SULLE SPONDE / AdK (2023) is an adaption of SULLE SPONDE DEL LAGO - ON THE SHORES OF THE LAKE (2022), a production of the FORWARD DANCE COMPANY by LOFFT - DAS THEATER in collaboration with choreographer Alessandro Schiattarella and cinquantatré Basel in co-production with ROXY Birsfelden and euro-scene Leipzig.
